Our Federation provides students from across the country with an effective and united voice, provincially and nationally. We create space and foster opportunities for students to join together in creating lasting change and winning victories, both on and off campus.
Because universities and colleges are funded primarily by the federal government and administered by provincial governments, the policies and priorities of both levels of government determine the accessibility of post-secondary education in Canada. Tuition fee levels, student financial assistance programs, Indigenous student funding, and funding for research are all set directly or indirectly by both levels of government.
No single student organization can provide every service, opportunity, or resource students need on its own. The Student Union Network brings students and local chapters together under one national organization, creating greater access to trusted services, stronger partnerships, and a unified student community across Canada.
By pooling resources, SUN delivers exclusive member benefits including housing assistance, legal and immigration support, health and dental partnerships, merchant discounts, emergency assistance, career opportunities, and other essential services through one integrated platform.
As a member-driven organization, SUN empowers students to shape the future of the network. Members elect their local leadership every two years, while local chapters work together through the National Council to represent students nationwide. The Board of Directors provides strategic governance and oversees the long-term growth and direction of the organization.
